Life-Choice Memoir
Thank you for visiting my Life-Choice Memoir Page. Below you will see links to the most recent drafts of my memoir. Our Life-Choice Memoir assignment was to write a creative non-fiction memoir about a high stake life-choice I had to make. I chose to write of a life or death decision that I recently had to make when I was diagnosed with cancer. I hope I am able to convey to you the inner struggle I had with the uncertainty of my future and understand the decision I had to make. Blog posts 3, 4, 5, and 7 leading up to this assignment helped in the development my memoir. Blog #7 has more details on the processes I used to write this memoir. The process that I found the most useful was to shut my eyes and write down every detail that I could remember about the environment and how I felt about the decision that I had to make. After I put all that on paper, I was able to go through and start the editing process. I made two revisions to add more reflection and give better clarity into my emotional state. As I made revision four, I found myself possibly facing another major surgery. This has made it very difficult for me to relive my past experience, knowing what is to come. I am very proud of the final product and I feel that I have let me readers into my thoughts and experiences with my brush with terminal cancer.
